1966 -1969.
Honours degree in Engineering Science.

Ove Arup and Partners, 1969 -1971.
Training under ICE agreement.  Large panel concrete housing and Portsmouth Civic Offices.

Arup Associates, 1971-1973.
A pavilion for the Royal Yacht Squadron and acting as the Resident Engineer for a new h.q. for British Sugar Corporation.

Kier Ltd, 1973 -1974.
Designing car parks and hyperboloid cooling towers in concrete.

Cambridge University Engineering Department, 1974 -1977.
Research into the behaviour of cylindrical shell structures when pushed into clay.

Peter Dann and Partners, 1977 -1978.
Steel agricultural portal frames and the conversion into houses of a derelict castle in France.

Cambridge University School of Architecture, 1978 -1983.
Teaching architecture students about structures, in both design studios and lectures.
Bartlett School of Architecture and Planning, University College London, 1983 -1988.
Teaching architecture, planning and building students about structures and the conservation and rehabilitation of buildings

Alan Baxter and Associates, 1988 -1990.
A pathology lab. in Camden Town.  Elected to membership of the Institution of Structural Engineers.
